So you’ve got a plan, you’ve made all your arrangements. Super. Now let’s talk about some of the things you’ll need for your trip. We’ve divided this into two types: What to bring and what to know. For each type we’ve then divided everything into things you need to have, things you should have and things that will make your life a lot easier. Of course, everyone’s going to have a different opinion on this – a “Should-have” is really a “Need” and vice versa. Your opinions will be depend greatly on your own experience and preference – and that’s what comments and suggestions are for.

Needs are things you must absolutely have. Simple. Beyond that, it’s really up to you. Take a look at the lists and think about your trip, and yourself. Portaging is about travelling light, but there might be certain things you just don’t want to give up. That’s where the decisions have to be made.
