Planning a Trip

Planning to portage can be a little intimidating if you’ve never been on one before. Just like planning any trip or event, there’s a lot of details to work out, but after you’ve done it once, it didn’t seem that hard. You just need to know the steps, and we’ll take you through them easily.

First you’ll figure out the trip itself. You’ll allot some time, find a place to go, create a route, plan how to get there and back then make any necessary reservations. You may find these steps difficult because each seems to rely on another. For example, how do you know how long a trip is going to be until you’ve got a route planned, and how can you plan a route without knowing how long you can go?

Don’t sweat the big picture or the task can be overwhelming. We find it easiest to think of the process as a cycle. Worry about each step as it come, and go back a step or two if things don’t work out. Keep doing this until you’ve got all the pieces together.
